Instructions for Living an Inspired Life
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Mary Oliver shared “Instructions for Living a Life.” These are:
‘Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.”
These instructions are very simple, and yet profound. And, they are a good way to practice what we are being asked by Spirit which is being more present and finding inspiration.
Pay attention = PRESENCE
Be astonished = WONDER & AWE
“Tell about it” might be interpreted as telling a new story. It might also be sharing your experience in a different way simply by sharing your frequency with those you come in contact with simply by being. One could also “write” about it as poetry, by journaling, through music, or other form of artistic expression. It is an invitation to share and to connect with another - an invitation to community, to Unity, to Oneness.
Today’s invitation is to take these instructions into your day - whether it is your regular activities, nature, or a day outside of the box.
What do you find?
What are you curious about?
What surprises you?
What fascinates you?
What amazes you?
What does wonder and awe feel like?
In the evening, take the time to journal about your experiences or express them through another artistic method.
As you do, what do you notice?
Is something revealed to you through this process?
How do you feel?
Do you notice changes in your frequency and in the ease and flow of your day?
Do you notice new inspiration coming forth?
