Practice Not Being “Right”

The quote below from Abraham-Hicks invites us to not have to be “right.” It invites us into allowing. What this is is the recognition that when we have to be right or prove ourselves we are engaging in resistance. This is the push-pull that we have long discussed.

When we are willing to observe the push-pull, we are able to recognize when we are creating an energetic tension. This tension is our signal that our energy is participating and fueling what is happening in front of us. We are co-creating it.

When we do not create the energetic push-pull, we are in a neutral position energetically and no longer creating the same old patterns out of habituation. This is a very powerful lesson for it allows us to step beyond our triggers and into choice - into response rather than reaction.

This lesson creates the possibilities of miracles and allows old struggles and disagreements to begin to dissolve - some almost instantaneously.

Practice this as you go through your interactions today. Observe where you are triggered. Do you need to be “right”? Do you need to prove a point? Are you able to come into greater neutrality? Are you able to respond, rather than react? Observe yourself. What do you notice?

Simply taking the time to do this exercise puts you on the path to choice and greater freedom.

“If you don’t meet resistance with resistance, it dissipates dramatically. It just softens. Try it! Next time somebody says to you, “I’m right, and you’re wrong,” say, “Pfftt, you’re right. You are right. You’re right.” And mean it. In other words, don’t mock them. Don’t be sarcastic. “You’re right.” And then watch how, all of a sudden, their legs almost go right out from under them. They don’t have the energy to blast you, because you just took the fuel away from the fire.” Abraham-Hicks, May 17, 2003, Boston, MA.
