Self-Nourishment

The Earth & Sky Oracle, by Sophie Bashford

Today, we are greeted by the energies of the Goddess Demeter. Her presence is a sacred blessing and a reminder to care for ourselves.

We frequently focus our energies on those around us and forget our own self-care. In addition, we often are looking for someone outside of us to give us the care that we need - to somehow know and provide the care for us that we have longed for even though we have not spoken or acknowledged our needs.

Thus, this card is also an invitation to be the mother/caregiver to ourselves that we have always desired. This is powerful in an of itself and additionally so because it brings forth the awareness and seeks acceptance that no one other than ourselves can give us the care that we deeply desire - can “get us” or “get it” - because they are looking through their own filters and perspectives. As such, we are invited to give ourselves permission to open to and receive from ourselves the care we have sought. This also requires us to come into self-discovery and find out what our needs, wants, and desires really are, which may include inner child work.

Although it may feel strange, awkward or unfamiliar to give to self, when we are willing to do this, we deeply embody nurturing and giving energies. We also have the opportunity to integrate emotions, woundings, and traumas that we have suppressed or ignored. Integration allows us to step into greater wholeness and embodiment, which is not only a gift to ourselves, but also exponentially amplifies how we may be of service to others.

Are you willing to see Dearest Ones, how vital it is that you nurture yourselves?

Do you have resistance to doing so? If so, what is it?

Do you have emotions that arise? If so, without judging them, ask what do they have to reveal to you?

Before you say “yes” to any request today, are you willing to become aware of your own needs, wants, desires?

Are you willing to say “no” if it feels like duty or obligation?

Are you willing to allow others the responsibility inherent in the creation of their own reality?

Are you willing to take the time to replenish yourself before or after being of service?

Are you willing to expect good things to come to you?

Do you notice that as you care for self, you draw to you more of the nourishment you need - perhaps even from unexpected sources?
