Be Unconventional
What does it mean to ‘be normal’? Most all have sought this to some extent or other in their lives. We are taught that to be outside the norm is at best weird and at worst dangerous to our very survival. Having internalized this from a young age, we do not realize that ‘normal’ is itself a structure of the old paradigm.
For many, the desire to be normal is something we feel we have to do, even if we do not want to do it. It results in frustration, anger, and resentment. It fosters separation and isolation. It also fosters additional resistance - ‘I didn’t want that anyway.’
We are learning now to not only accept what makes us unique, but to cherish it as part of our authenticity. Sometimes this pendulum first swings in the other direction out of balance and becomes a test we use against others to weed them out of our lives. However, as we step into acceptance of who we are without judgment, we find balance and appreciation for who we are. Our uniqueness then originates purely from our innate innocence.
The world needs more people who are willing to allow their innocence to shine through. This innocence is heart-centered and is connected with our souls and Higher Selves. It allows us to see into the hearts of others and to know that they are another expression of us.
Thus, today’s invitation is to give yourself permission to be unconventional, to let go of the need to be normal - whatever that means for you. Take the time to observe what you might consider your little quirks and feel into the authentic expression under them. Are you judging yourself? Where does that judgment come from? Are you willing to release that judgment?
Will you allow yourself to feel the innocence underneath these things that make you smile?
Do you sense a greater connectedness when you embrace your innocence?
Are you willing to allow yourself to engage in more of these behaviors?
What do you notice about your frequency when you do?
As you go through your day, are you judging others’ ‘quirks’ or what might make them seem unusual? If so, why? What does it bring up within you?
We would love to hear of your experiences in the comments section below.
