Your Cells Are Listening
A 2025 study from Kyoto University found that cells detect and respond to sound. This is one of the many discoveries in recent months heralding new understandings of consciousness by science. There will be many more to come.
The benefits of sound in health and healing are numerous. The human voice is significant and unique in its healing capacities. And, it is simple to begin.
Your cells hear what you think and especially what you say and are responding accordingly. As we discussed in our recent class on The Potent Magic of Water, if you say you are tired, your cells cooperate. If you are judgmental or critical of yourself, your cells reflect this. In contrast, if you say you are well and in balance, your cells reflect this frequency and condition.
Are you taking the time to become aware of your thoughts and the words you use?
Do you notice how you are speaking about yourself?
If you make a mistake, are you critical of yourself?
Are you engaging in self-judgment?
Are you critical or judgmental of others?
Are you willing to take the time to bless and be grateful for the amazing temple that your body is?
Are you willing to nourish it with good food and pure water?
Are you willing to be grateful for that food and water?
Are you taking the time to bless it and set an intention for your health and well-being as you consume these?
Are you willing to notice the interrelationships and how your attention and intention have significant effects on your cells?
As you connect with your heart space today, allow yourself to hum or tone a message for your cells that comes straight from your heart. You do not have to know what to do, simply breathe and allow the sounds to come forth from within you. This is part of your ancient remembering. Continue to hum, tone, or chant for a few moments. Do you notice anything different in the way you feel and how your body feels?
This exercise can be repeated at any time. In fact, as you go through your day, you may even find yourself humming, toning, or chanting in quiet moments. Allow yourself to simply feel and observe. This is just one way to begin to play with the power of sound in your own life.
