Shake Things Up

Apologies for the technical glitch. This post was supposed to be available at 12:00am PT on 10/19. I only just became aware that there was a technical problem. Here is the original post. Enjoy! 😊
As we get closer to the New Moon 🌑, we are invited to begin to consider what we would like to create in our lives so that we may set intentions for the next creative cycle. We’ve all been in the process of so much change that it might be challenging to answer this question at the moment.
So today, we are being encouraged to shake things up. When we try new things or travel to new places, we come out of routine and, with no effort at all, become more open to possibility. If we are in any form of unknown - large or small - we become open to assess things anew. This mean that we take in more information and take that information in differently.
This is an invitation to play as well. Play is medicine for the soul. Play naturally releases stuck energies and infuses us with breath and life force. It allows us to connect with our heart. Play is outside of the brain - outside of survival. Play is cleansing for the body, mind, and spirit.
What have you done that is playful recently?
Can you remember the last time you allowed yourself to play?
What form of play calls to your heart or your inner child today? It could be swinging on a swing set, an ice cream cone, playing with an animal companion, taking a walk in nature, spinning around in a circle until you get dizzy and fall down, finding shapes in the clouds, painting, drawing, gardening - the list is endless.
It can also be small. When was the last time you put the opposite leg of your pants on first? If you are willing, try it. It is surprising how such a small thing changes things up.
If you have other habits or routines, simply change the order you generally proceed in. If you always have the same breakfast, have something different. If you always have your coffee the same way, try it differently or from a different place. You might take a different route to work or do tasks in a different order. You might take the day off and go to some place new.
Then, simply allow yourself to notice how you feel and what happens. You might meet people you didn’t expect to meet. You might see something you didn’t expect or know was there. You might find something new that you like. You might have an “a ha” moment.
So much is out there waiting for us to explore and so much in our daily lives we do not see because of habit and routine. Shaking things up offers new perspectives and reveals the magic and beauty are all around us.
Are you willing to shake things up today and try something new - or several new things?
What do you notice? How do you feel?
Does resistance arise?
Do you feel refreshed?
Do you find an answer you’ve been waiting for or greater clarity?
Do you feel more alive?
We would love to hear of your experiences in the comments section below.
