What Would Your Inner Child Do?

In our bi=weekly CKSCS Community Gathering call last evening, we had a lovely discussion around innocence and how allowing ourselves to reclaim our innocence allows us to step out of linearity and into greater consciousness and simultaneity. When we are in our innocence, we are not only present, but we also open to limitlessness as we do not require things to make “sense.”

As part of the discussion, I shared an experience I had about 15 years ago in which a class I was taking invited me to take a 5-pound bag of baking flour and throw it all around the kitchen with abandon just as a child would. Whether in real life, on tv or in a movie, we have all seen the huge mess this results in and the pure joy children have in making that mess. Unlike an adult, it never occurs to them not to make a mess - they are simply in presence and joy.

As much as I love baking and being a good student, I was simply unable to bring myself to do this exercise. I found many other ways to play and embrace my inner child, joy, and innocence. But, I could not get past my mind and the immediate laundry list of “why nots” it came up with for this exercise. It just didn’t make “sense” to me and I “needed” it to make sense. I was still SO serious. 😉 What a wonderful illustration to unveil for me the various programs, thought forms, and structures in my mind! In fact, it still makes me chuckle. 🤣

Indeed, as I was laughing about it with a friend following the Gathering, we wondered what would we do with the flour. Would we pretend it was snowing? 🌨️ Would we build mountains 🏔️ , sand dunes, or rivers? Would we make mud pies? Would we draw pictures? Would we make handprints or draw names or letters? Would we decorate the dog or cat? Would we make snow angels?

The laughter became infectious until we were both bent over from it. In particular, visions of adult-sized snow angels brought tears to our eyes. It was a wonderful release and expansion. Laughter is so very powerful!

Thus, today’s invitation is to allow yourself to play with this idea. What would your inner child do with a 5-pound bag of flour? Or 10 pounds, if you shop at Costco? 😂

If you are brave enough, you may actually try this - but, using your imagination works well too. 😉🥰

Do you feel resistance come up? Does your mind immediately tell you that’s ridiculous or silly or stupid? Does your mind tell you how difficult it would be to clean up? Does your mind say you would get in trouble?

What mental structures and programs does your mind reveal to you?

Are you willing to look beyond those thoughts and structures to see whether the idea appeals to your inner child? Can you see yourself making snow angels in the house? 😇 If you allow your inner child to come forth and play, what do you see yourself doing?

Are you laughing? Do you feel a shift in your consciousness as a result?

Do you feel an increased desire to play and embrace your innocence? Are you willing to allow yourself to do so? What ways can you find throughout your day to embrace presence, joy, and innocence?

We would love to hear of your experiences in the comments section below. 💖
